Time for some Euro vision

I kept my counsel as far as the Eurovision was concerned, never voiced my opinion to anyone but I can't contain myself in my container any longer. To say it was one of the most embarrassing Eurovision moments I have ever witnessed would be somewhat understating it. Thinking we were being wildly anarchic and radical we sent a stuffed turkey with a voice like a blender, to sing a song with no melody, which took the piss out of the event.

Truth was, Dustin's performance slipped by without a notice. Totally overshadowed by devils, gods, ballet, surreal elvis impersonators and a host of other theatrical presentations, in short there was nothing to remember about the turkey, certainly no song, no melody. The sarcastic, supposedly funny tone was totally lost on our European neighbors as it was on most people outside the Pale in Ireland. Dustin is funny to some Dubliners, his 'humour' however does not travel and his appearance this year will not bring one tourist to Ireland.

You may be one of those people who thinks the Eurovision is stupid, irrelevant, uncool and a general waste of time. and God knows you might be right. The fact remains however It was watched by an estimated 100 million viewers around Europe and the rest of the world and one can't help thinking that this was an opportunity lost.
