Recycling home.
So there I was on my bike, trying to do my bit for the auld carbon footprint, back in October 2008. The girlfriend said cycling was a great way to lose weight as well when she presented me with a sleek mountain bike for my birthday in June. After 4 months intensive training she finally let go of the saddle one day in October when I wasn't looking and lo and behold I was cycling my way to an eco friendlier lifestyle.
I wish I could say I never looked back, but unfortunately I did. At that very moment a wobble took hold of my handlebars and I hit the kerb. After an unscheduled flight of some ten meters I hit the ground and an excruciating pain shot through my leg. Five hours later, it seemed I had only succeeded in increasing the size of my footprint, as my untrained arms tried to crutch my body out of emergency with a large plastered leg jutting before me, mast-head like, pointing the way.
The boss to his credit did try to hide his glee when I propelled myself through the door the next day. He also did his best not to overdo the jokes and smart remarks throughout the following days. In fact he complimented me on trying to do my bit at a time when service stations are trying to do what they can to be more environmentally friendly by recycling rain water for car washes and use more eco friendly materials in the building process of new stations. "Mr. Crab" he said, "considering your tendency to be how should I put it, prone to disaster, I think you would be better off to recycle if you wish to help the environment."
