Counter encounters, loyalty matters and donations doubled.

I shouldn't really be admitting openly to my failings but  I am an organisational disaster when it comes to routine  daily tasks. Simple things like getting receipts for things, remembering to buy milk, buying milk and then finding out next morning that I have no coffee and three pints of milk, you get the picture... I am getting better, but it's slow progress.
Anyway I got one of the Applegreen loyalty cards when they came out. Of course it's always nice to add another card to the collection in your wallet, especially a spanking brand new card, in pristine condition and full of promise, alongside the usual battered suspects.

Being the kind of guy who is very likely to spill his coffee while trying to get his wallet out and locate his loyalty card, and, having dropped my wallet and offered my expired AA card a few times, I suddenly found myself preparing for my encounter at the Applegreen counter by extracting the loyalty card from the wallet as soon as I entered the shop. It made me feel right chuffed that I was beginning to grasp the concept of preparation. Not only that but imagine the leap my confidence took when I became adept at pre-empting the "Do you have an Applegreen card Sir?" question with a smooth flourish and a 007 type flick of my Applegreen card on to the counter.
Now I must admit I have never checked the point balance, never logged in, never looked at what's on offer since. I'm just not a rewards type of guy I always say to myself, but hey I love the card and it's done absolute wonders for my confidence. Just having that one small element of my daily routine down.
So imagine my surprise when I finally read some of my emails recently and on reading one from the Applegren loyalty team I discovered I have almost 6000 points, as well !  Last time I had 6000 of anything was while  holidaying in Dalyan in Turkey and on that unfortunate occasion it involved mosquitos.

From loyalty to charity

I have to say the indefatigable Applegreen charity team are an inspiration to all. Cycling to Galway, cycling round Wicklow, walking for Console, climbing mountains, organizing a head-spinning variety of charity events. I suppose one has to hand it to the boss for fostering such a "can do - lets help" attitude in the company. Such aspirational example can only have a positive effect on the company in general. Of course it's also a wonderful thing for the Applegreen blog. At last I have something to write about other than winning awards.

Oh yeah, that reminds me. Applegreen won the "Best New Loyalty Programme of the Year" award at The Loyalty Awards in London last week.  That was a huge pat on the back for our loyalty team and indeed the whole company. Well done again to all involved.  The shortlist included such heavyweights as Orange, eBay, German supermarket giants REWE and Edeka so the competition was particularly stiff, making the win all the more impressive.

Back to charity. The Applegreen Suicide Awareness Week begins on 17th June. It has been a revelatory experience for the company to work with Console and see first hand the support they offer to people.

101 Gas stations can't be far away.

What is it about 100 that makes it so special?
Whether on our calendars or on the cricket crease it's a common cause for celebration. The Century is a milestone. Your 100 likes on Facebook. Your granny's 100 year old  Birthday. Petrogas Global Ltd.'s 100  forecourts, yes that's right 100 forecourts !! As you can see below it was a cause for celebration in the UK when Petrogas UK MD Michael O"Loughlin and his team opened the 100th Petrogas station at Hayling Island in Portsmouth. Petrogas will add at least another 10 sites before the end of the year. Congratulations!!
