The ultimate tree house.

This house gives a whole new meaning o the old Grandmaster Flash song you know the one with the line in the chorus " it's like a jungle sometimes it makes me wonder etc "
As the perfect antidote to the concrete jungle referred to in the song you could hardly get better than this. For the full experience this is probably what it sounds like in the mornings . I get a little worried when I think of how many birds fly into windows every day and there's always the possibility that Tarzan might end up accidentally crashing your dinner party.
Having said all that they say the first thing one should look for in a new neighbourhood is diversity.

How to make a tomato split or a carrot shake.

Haagen Dazs' new Tomato and Carrot flavoured ice cream.

I can see it now, mothers all over Japan mothers urging their kids to finish the whole tub of ice cream because its a rich source of Carotene or, insisting they drink yet another shake because its full of Lycopene. Why bother waiting for dessert when you can simply place the ice cream next
to your meat and potatoes or for the really health concious, just toss it in your salad. Ever seen
a tomato float?

Would you like a pizza cake?

Some people just get can't get enough pizza. Extra large, deep dishstuffed crust, triple cheese, calzone, stromboli, the list of possible toppings is endless and the manner in which pizza-makers customize their crust just as diverse. The latest addition to the Pizza world is this Pizza Cake currently being trialled at the Boston Pizza Company. They make them for weddings and birthdays, in fact for any celebration. It seems pizza has the capability to reinvent itself on a  regular basis and if you are a fan of the cheesy, crusty, multi-topped pie it's evolution will continue to throw up tasty surprises.

Horse heads for Scotland.

No matter what your stand on public money being used to fund public art pieces, the Kelpies make a pretty amazing sight as they tower above the Helix in Falkirk, Scotland. Some amazing pictures have been taken of the two horses heads which by the way are not (as one wag remarked) commemorating the anniversary of the making of "The Godfather" but rather paying tribute to the heavy Clydesdale horses used in foundries, fields, farms, breweries to pull all manner of heavy loads and used also on canals to pull barges. Falkirk was also reputedly home to the worlds biggest horse in the 1930's. No matter what your feelings on the cost of the project (five million euro) I think you will agree the result is pretty impressive. You don't have to go to Falkirk to befriend the equine monsters either and all reports indicate they are extremely likeable.

Going west?

When Petrogas CEO Bob Etchingham told us he was planning to head west he didn't as we expected stop in Galway. The creator of the Applegreen brand didn't stop till he hit the east coast of  Nth. America, Long Island to be exact, where he closed the deal on two new Applegreen stations, the company's first inroad into the American market. Never a man to rest on his laurels, he looks well pleased in this picture outside the first of the two acquisitions, a former ATGO gas station in Long Island, NY.

Why beer makes BBQ better.

Now that Grill Season is upon us guys around the country are dusting, scraping and cleaning and getting ready to dazzle partners and friends with their carcinogenic culinary skills. According to this article in the Economist there is more than one reason to go on the beer when grilling. So  remember if you're hitting the beer, don't try to steer. Never drive after drinking.!!
Barbecueing has long been seen as a man's job, as reflected in this rather macho BBQ.
This threatening looking BBQ Grill looks like it could cook your goose.

This is just what you need for the last few miles.

Following the success of city bicycles this could very well be the next thing to hit our streets and what a wonderful iidea it is. Comfortably able to take the driver and two passengers these electronically assisted, non motorized, emission free "pedicabs" could quite possibly provide at least part of the solution for general city gridlock. The vehicles are free to use and revenue is generated via the streamed advertisements on an on-board tablet computer. Based on the location of the pedicab, relevant ads show up accordingly. Just what you need for the last or the first few miles.
